Being a single father to a couple of 6 year old twin boys isn’t what one would call a leisurely walk in a park. Particularly so since its little league soccer season again. This season yours truly will be the main honcho for getting the uniforms done.
Being one of just three guys among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was quite a challenge to get most of the committee to come to an agreement not to change the team’s kit color from red to a color in the pastel palette which I can’t pronounce. But try as we did, we failed in our valiant attempt to change the team name to The Red Dragons from The Red Flamingos.
After sourcing for uniforms, and believe it or not - team sponsors, it came to my attention that our team did not even have its very own logo. I raised this concern of mine with the other two dads and we decided that it would certainly be a a great idea if we had our own team emblem. So we took it upon ourselves to design a logo each and exhibit them to the committee.
All three of us congregated the next weekend with our works of art and had a good laugh, before unanimously deciding not to quite our day jobs to become designers. Evidently my Flamingo took on the look of a Woodpecker on banned anabolic matter. The touted da Vinci like designs from the other 2 weren’t much better. One can potentially pass off as a work by Picasso and the other appeared like bored doodlings from a ill-fated victim of a 5 hour long weekly meeting. But we went ahead and presented the rough designs to the committee anyway.
Though the committee barred the three of us from designing anything club related until such time when certain farm animals sprout wings and fly, they did agree that our little league soccer team should indeed have its own logo. So I delightedly went back and surfed the net for logo design austria, did some checking and picked a couple of design agencies and handed them to the committee.
Now our soccer team has finally got its own custom logo. We had patches made for the team jerseys and stickers produced for fun’s sake - thanks to a small but adequate sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop around the corner. The logo itself ended up looking very cool with a an unabashedly red Flamingo standing on one leg and the other casually resting on a soccer ball looking like it means business.
A little bird told me that next year I’ll be in charge of liquid sustenance aka drinks. I’m flirting with the idea of taking it a step beyond and am planning something big to present to Accelerade about a sponsorship deal.
